Made it through the weekend. This was my first time vending at a Con and it wasn’t quite what I had hoped. I met a lot of cool people, got to see some fun costumes and sold a few things. There were some logistical issues at the Con that made me feel like that impacted things. There were a lot of grumpy people on Saturday due to park and line issues. As one person on FB commented that “Line Con was awesome! Even more lines than last year!”
Was it my best show? Not by far, but I did get some good responses which made me happy. I think one of the big differences is that at other shows I am often one of the only ones with geek friendly items and at the con it was Geek World so I had a lot of competition. The thing that I found most interesting is that I sold mainly magnets and very few prints. Given the responses in other venues I thought I would have sold a few more.
I try to go in to shows with reasonable expectations, but I did not make any where near to what I hopped. Nor did I win the Powerball which was disappointment. On the plus side it was not my worse show. Another positive is that I have a show in a couple weeks and I won’t have to make as much stuff for it as I feared.
One more day to prep a gazillion things to do be fore MCCC this weekend. So much to do and so little time. Because I felt the need to make more new prints and magnets. Right up to very end.
This has long been one of my favorite movies. I could watch it daily and not get tired of it. In fact in my preparation for Motor City Comic Con I have put it on heavy rotation.
This week will be spent cutting prints, making magnets and figuring just what I want to bring to the show. Maybe even making some last minute new designs. Cause you know I am crazy that way.
Finally got to see all my new prints in person today! Grand total was 800 and they all need to be cut in the next couple weeks. I also got to print out all the new magnet images too. That was about 350 pages. They are all so bright and colorful it makes my heart happy.I might have to con a friend or two in to helping me finish them all up.
Last night’s creative endeavors included “Twin Peaks” and “Real Genius” along with a few others. Tomorrow will be spent printing out all the new stuff. That is my favorite part… seeing and holding it in my hands.
I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I was to find a painting with a monkey in it! It’s the little things in life.
Just finished a show in Flint and now I am back at the computer. Lots to do and little time to do it in. But at least I saw the sun for a little while today.
