Lost of ideas running through my mind about ways to expand the “& More” part of Chicaloo Photography & More. I am looking at investing in a button machine so I can make coasters and pocket mirror’s. It is a pretty big investment. I would probably have to start with either coasters or mirrors. The question is which should I go with?
I am also looking for a record player… it doesn’t have to be great … just need the motor to turn. I need to hunting for a cheap one. I have super secret ideas involving the turntable.
Of course with all the ideas I have, the one thing I don’t have is time. Anyone have any to spare?
I am looking to have some books printed up of my photos. So, I wondering a few things…
A) Would you be interested
B) Would you want Hardcover or Paperback?
C) How many pages would you want?
D) What would you be willing to pay?
E) Would you want a general photo book or a specific theme?
Sometimes it is really hard to get motivated to push the boundaries of my craft. It is easy to let things slide. Or to second guess myself. So, in order to give myself a push I joined a Collage A Day group started by Magic Jelly. The goal is to make one collage a day and to not spend too much time on the collage. I am hoping I can keep this up. It has been fun so far.
Here are my first 2 collages..
I really wanted to stay home today and look through the books on collage and altered books I checked out from the library yesterday. But alas, there are bills to pay and I must work. And if I am really honest, I wanted to sleep a lot too. The snow is gone for now. Which is pretty amazing considering how much we got on New Years. We have had a lot of rain the last couple of days, for a minute I though I would float away. The gray skies are not doing much to bolster my creativity. A little sun would go along way. (The above picture is pre rain.) But I would settle for a nap.
I see lot of posts on etsy about not selling or low sales, but I wanted to share some info from my shop. I joined in Jan 2006. That first year I sold 65 items. In 2007 I sold 166. So far this year I have sold 7 items. There are times I don’t feel like I am selling much, but I look at the bigger picture and realize that I am selling more than I think.
In that first year I sold a lot of sample cards, which were not at full price. Last year I added magnets and notebooks. I sold a bit of cards, photos, magnets and notebooks. And none of it was on sale items. I have had several repeat customers and I am very grateful for them. I also get people brand new to Etsy and I love them as just as I do my repeat customers.
My anniversary on Etsy is tomorrow and I am looking forward to a great year.
Happy New Year all! I took a little break from the blog world for the holidays and now I am back on track and ready to go.
I have spent much of the last 2 weeks sorting through piles of craft odds and ends trying to make some semblance of order. I have a little more to go, but I see the end. Part of the problem is that all my Market stuff has made it’s way in to the house and I need to find a place to store it.
Another big moment in 2007 happened almost at the end of December. I was part of an article in the local paper about Social Networking sites like MySpace, Flickr and Etsy and how people are using them for things other than being social. There were even a couple of pictures of me in the article. The day it came out I went to the bank and the teller recognized my name. That was pretty nifty.
I only made one New Year’s Resolution and that was to create more. So, for the next few months I am going to spend the hours I would be at Market trying new things creatively. Hopefully I will have some fun things to share.
