Looking up?

July 31, 2007 at 6:09 pm (etsy, photography)

I was lucky enough to be on the front page this afternoon….

Here is the photo on it’s own…

My luck is looking up. Maybe I should buy a  lotto ticket.

Score!

July 31, 2007 at 1:42 pm (Ann Arbor Artisan Market, crafts)

So, it has been a rough couple of days. I went to the Market and kept having to turn around to check if I left the stove on, or because I forgot something.  As I was setting up my display things kept falling on me. Later that evening as I was going to unload my car I fell. Didn’t trip over thing, just fell. It is just a little something I like to do. My knee is all messed up and I have scrapes on my ankle and other knee as well. Last night though my luck took an upward swing (well until this morning) and I found a great grid display in the dumpster area of a store near my house. I 4 grid walls complete with hooks to attach them together. The sections are each about 2 ft wide, 6 ft tall. The version I am showing is white, but the one I scored is black. If I had bought it it would have been about $100, not even including shipping.

Of course this morning my luck turned downward again and the bag of cat food split at the bottom and I had to get down on my bum knee and clean up 10 lbs of cat food.

Contest entry

July 27, 2007 at 12:43 pm (etsy)

I love making treasuries on Etsy. They are pretty addicting. A week or so ago Etsy admins announced a contest to help create limited addition posters using the treasury.  Here is my entry.

I started with one theme and then completely redid it. I am pretty happy with this one.

Catching up

July 24, 2007 at 12:48 pm (art fair, etsy, photography)

I survived the Art Fair. For the most part it was great, but it was touch and go a few times. Wed. was HOT and HUMID. I felt completely drained.  Thursday was rainy and at one point there the tornado sirens went off. Luckily the tornado didn’t hurt anyone in the art fair.  At least none that I know of.  Friday was beautiful. It was the perfect art fair weather. Saturday was also beautiful, but a bit warmer. Now I have a few weeks to prepare for the Saline Craft Show coming up in August.

In other news…

I was featured on the front page of Etsy again.

here is the picture…

Also one of my photos was featured on Farlane’s Michigan in Pictures blog. Here is the pic he used to represent Kalamazoo…

More later…

How much more can I do?

July 16, 2007 at 2:07 pm (Ann Arbor Artisan Market, art fair, etsy, photography)

Yesterday was one of my best Market days yet. It was beautiful weather. I spent time talking with Judy and Melissa about the upcoming Etsy at the Market show in September. The application is up online and I have already had some people send them back in. I am so excited.

The fair starts Wed and the weather doesn’t look great for the first couple days. So pray that the rain comes overnight and not during the fair. I don’t think that is asking for too much.

I am almost ready, I just need to go get some more frames and mat a few more photos. It was funny since everyone wanted pictures I had sold out of.  So I will mat a bunch of my Create or Die, Pirate and Gnome Liberation Front photos, which means they won’t sell. :)

Just tryin’ not to

July 11, 2007 at 6:11 pm (photography)

Actually, I am pretty calm today. Maybe it is because I worked last night and I am too tired to think of everything I have to do.

This photo reminds me that the county fair is coming up soon. I hope to get lots of new fun fair photos. And eat a deep fried Snickers…. that makes everything better. They are heaven on a stick!

The countdown begins

July 10, 2007 at 5:21 pm (art fair, crafts, photography)

Just a week until Art Fair. I have so much I want to get done, but realistically I know that most of it won’t happen. I kept thinking I had more time, but that doesn’t happen to be the case.  Last night I worked on earrings. Tonight and tomorrow I have to work. Thursday will probably be matting photos. Friday I will be making magnets. Saturday I am at the gallery and will probably be making cards. Sunday is for the Artisan Market and cleaning the house so my mom, who is coming up to help, isn’t horrified.  Oh, and I need to sleep somewhere in there.

Anyone want to help? Or come keep me company at Art Fair?

I love Flickr!

July 6, 2007 at 11:18 am (flickr, photography, yay!)

A couple weeks ago I received an email from someone at Schmap Guides telling me one of my photos was shortlisted for inclusion in their online guide to San Francisco. They found it on Flickr. Which I find amazing considering how many photos there are of San Francisco on Flickr. Today I got an email informing my photo made it in. It is one of 5 photos they picked for Grace Cathedral Park.
Here is the actual photo

It has been a good week.

Weather woes

July 3, 2007 at 2:14 pm (Ann Arbor Artisan Market, etsy, photography)

I was looking forward to having a day off where I could go out and take some photos since I have been pretty lax about that these days. But according to the weather there is a 70% chance of me being rained out and possibly hit by lightening.  I guess I will spend the time getting ready for Art Fair. I have less than 3 weeks to get everything ready. I think this is the first year I haven’t started in January. Not sure if that is a good sign or not. I am certainly calmer about the whole thing. I think doing the Artisan Market each weekend helps.

Here is a recent addition to my etsy shop.
